Your insulation questions, answered:
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT KIND OF INSULATION I HAVE?
Many homes currently have some form of attic insulation. However, the older the home, the less likely it is to have effective insulation. Even newer homes built in the last decade could use more insulation or better insulation: generally, the effectiveness of the materials is marked by what’s called an ‘R-Value’.
The U.S. Department of Energy recommends a certain type of insulation for Mohave County based on our climate. With our inspection, we’ll help you determine what needs to be added.
ARE THERE REBATES AVAILABLE FOR INSULATION?
In most cases, yes. Many private energy companies and local and state governments offer rebates for home in-attic insulation services; they do this because adding insulation is a proven way of saving energy and reducing strain on utilities throughout the year.
This Energy.gov tool allows you to search for your energy company to see what kind of rebates are offered for home insulation. Have questions about this? Give Air Control a call, and our team can help you navigate this process.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES OF BLOWN-IN INSULATION?
Using blown-in insulation is perfect for homes with already built attics, and even those that have a degree of insulation already. That’s because spray-in insulation is easy for us to apply with our specialized machinery and builds upon what’s already there, and can move around obstructions.
It’s great for the hard-to-reach places of your attic that many insulation services companies will avoid, but will still leak energy.
WHAT ARE SOME OTHER WAYS I CAN SAVE ENERGY?
We’re glad you asked, because there is! We offer a comprehensive home energy audit that can help you identify places where you can save energy in your home (and therefore, money).
Another great way to save energy is to have Air Control use Aeroseal air duct sealing to close fractures and pinholes in home’s air ducts; paired with attic insulation, this can really reduce the amount of cooled or heated air escaping through your roof.
